About Our Tours

Bhutan is a remote, mysterious, exhilarating place to visit. It is the most unspoiled, beautiful, powerfully traditional country in the Himalayas, and possibly on earth. Its allure has attracted visitors from faraway places since the 17th century, and in today’s world of homogenized cultures and contrived reenactments of outgrown traditions, its pure and genuine cultural heritage is a priceless jewel. It has one foot in the past and one in the future. Its farsighted leaders recognize the necessity of being part of the modern world but they intend to avoid the folly of destroying the treasures of this ancient world for superficial and temporary gains. In Bhutan. Profit is not confused with happiness.
Travel to and with in Bhutan can sometimes be difficult and frustrating. It is always an adventure because the unexpected is always possible. Sometimes this causes problems. Other times, it can be a gift of beauty, insight or friendship to be treasured for a lifetime. Please come with an open mind and be flexible. You are not coming to an ordinary place.
We offer you a panorama of tours which we think will show you the best aspects of this extraordinary country. You will see the people and their way of life, the great Himalayan Mountains on remote trekking routes, the spectacularly colorful and genuinely traditional festivals, the citadels of Himalayan Buddhism; and we hope you will feel the breath of mystery and power which still abides in this strange and hidden kingdom. If there is magic left in the world, here is where you will find it.
Tashi-Delek…may your journey be a happy one.

Treks

Trekking in Bhutan offers the rare opportunity to experience true high mountain wilderness. The trails are unspoiled, shared with few or no other people; the scenery is magnificent and almost untouched by signs of human’s settlement. There are treks of varying length and difficulty, with special attractions and characteristics. Some venture into the highest, wildest, most inaccessible parts of Bhutan beneath the Tibetan border; others explore the remote valleys of the east. There are seldom-visited villages inhabited by nomadic yak herders with unique customs, such as Laya, Thanza, and Mera Sakteng. Far from any road, they can be seen only by those able to walk up to them. Bhutan is the land of the blue sheep, the snow leopard, the blue poppy, all the rare and almost mythical plants and animals associated with the Great Himalayas. Its treasures are innumerable; alpine meadows carpeted with wildflowers like fields of jewels, forests richly filled with birds, butterflies, orchids, tree-high rhododendrons, thundering glacial rivers and delicate waterfalls, and always, high above, the tremendous peaks which the Bhutanese believe are inhabited by deities. These are the rewards awaiting those able to reach the places where they are hidden.
